TeachWell incorporates a Mindfulness practice into each of our sessions. Through basic breathing techniques and relaxation exercises, we integrate Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills with Mindfulness techniques, giving educators tools to regulate their own response to the stressors of the classroom. Participants use Mindfulness to become more aware of their emotional responses, reflect on their own sense of self-efficacy, set intentions for their teaching practice and discover empathy for their students.
Scientific research is identifying Mindfulness as an effective tool to mitigate stress, increase efficacy and promote compassion and resilience. When adults are calm and regulated, they, in turn, can regulate the internal world of the child. Ref Educators increasingly have to manage the impact of adverse child experiences (ACEs) and trauma experienced by the students and families they serve. Having a Mindfulness practice equips teachers to mitigate the impact these factors have on the classroom environment, student learning and educator well-being.
