Circle Opener/Closer:

  • What kind of a student were you?

  • Who is a teacher who gave you support? Believed in you?

  • What is something you had to work really hard to achieve?

  • What messages did you get about “failure” from family or school?

  • Think of a student who needs your support, describe that student with a growth mindset.  Who is someone who supports you?

  • What is something you are proud of?

  • Shout-outs: Name something you think someone in this circle should be proud of who is the person? What should they be proud of?

Growth Mindset Reframes:

Ask participants to work in pairs to reframe these fixed mindset phrases:

  • I’m terrible at Math

  • I can’t draw

  • I don’t get technology

  • This is too hard

  • I don’t get it and I don’t care

  • She always does better than me
